Reedy Creek
Elementary
Reedy Creek Elementary is a new school completed in 1999 on Reedy
Creek Road. Reedy Creek Road has no sidewalks (except along the
frontage of the school property) and virtually no shoulder for
walking. Limited sight distances at curves make it difficult to determine when
it is safe to
cross. The school is also separated from the street and surrounding
neighborhood by a 0.4 mile long driveway, making it even less
convenient to walk to.
Reedy Creek Elementary, as seen from its driveway entrance
at Reedy Creek road. This 2000 foot long driveway, which does feature
a sidewalk, is the only means of access to the school.
Reedy Creek Road at the entrance to the Reedy Creek
Elementary School driveway. The sidewalk ends at the end of the
school property, where the road narrows and becomes treacherous for walking,
especially in low-visibility conditions. Cut-through traffic often travels along this winding road at speeds
over 50 mph.
